Soft Acrobatics & Improvisation
Italy, Turin June 17-18
A workshop open for everyone who wants to start, refine or expand their acrobatics practice.
Our aim in this workshop is to decode the acrobatics practice. Crossing the barriers in between disciplines, we are going to look at the most universally valid principles in acrobatics, the fundamental patterns and their possible derivations.
Improvisation and task exploration will be another big part of this workshop. Learn how to integrate acrobatics in improvisation and tell your own story. In this section everything will be explored - from standing, to crawling and floorwork - like a dancer, like a martial artist, like a human animal.
Forms and movement situations will be another area of research.
Through forms we will approach subjects such as body awareness, flexibility, conditioning and rehabilitation. How these areas could support and bring more aliveness to our acrobatics.
Movement situations:
As a species that learns and develops through play, we will explore various movement situations and games. Learning to communicate better, to cope with unpredictable situations and to come up with creative and intelligent solutions.
The movement situations in the context of this workshop will be oriented more towards improvisation and acrobatics.
Through practice and theory we will cover:
- How do we support the practice and prevent injuries?
- How do we engage more playful and creative with the practice?
- Improvisation and flow.
- Transitions.
- Adaptive Technique.
- Creative thinking.
- Self determination and how to design a practice that suport life.
- Principles vs fixed forms.
- Constraints led approach vs perfect practice approach.
- Movement Situations
